For some time now, I've been getting requests to outline the in's and out's of the Advanced GET Dashboard. I wanted to use this forum as a way to hopefully answer some questions about how the Dashboard functions in relation to each of the four core trading strategies.
While the Dashboard is an extremely efficient way to keep track of trade setups using different strategies, it isn't a substitute for utilizing all of the strict rules that we rely on for a good trading opportunity. With that said, keep in mind that if the chart you are trading doesn't make sense or you're not following all of the rules of the strategy, the Dashboard will be of little help.
One of the most common questions I get about the Dashboard is how to interpret the colors. The colored dials mean different things based on what strategy you are following (notice how we always come back to the idea of working with the core strategy). Below is a series of screenshots that outline the colors and their respective meanings per strategy.

Tips and Tricks
- Time Templates
When working with the Dashboard, especially when using it to follow equities, it is important to understand the Time Template feature. Just like the Advanced Chart, pre and post market data will be taken into account unless you tell it otherwise. That small amount of data before and after the session can have a dramatic effect on how Dashboard identifies or doesn't identify a trade setup. A good rule of thumb is to use the same Time Template on the Dashboard that you use on your charts, otherwise it is similar to comparing apples to oranges.
To set the Time Template for the Dashboard, right-click on the dials and choose Time Template. From there, select the one appropriate for the symbols you are following. Because the Dashboard cannot use more than one Time Template at a time, it may be best to open up another Dashboard if you are following different types of symbols (i.e. stocks and futures).
If you don't see a Time Template for your time zone, you can create your own by following the steps outlined here
- Editing Dashboard Intervals
Daytraders, Swing Traders and Investors look at things very differently from one another. We are all concerned about following the time frames that are appropriate for our style of trading. With that in mind, we can change the time frames that are displayed in the Dashboard to intervals that are in line with how long we want to stay in the trade. To change the displayed intervals, right-click on the dial inside the Dashboard and choose "Edit Intervals". For day trading, I like to use 1, 3, and 5, for swing trading, 15,30, and 60 minutes, and for longer term, D,W,M intervals are my preference. Play around with the times that are right for you.
- Scanning and the Dashboard
There are two scanners inside of Advanced GET. They both do the same thing and work equally as well but have some small differences in relation to how they interact with the Dashboard. First things first. Let's define the two types. The web-based scanner is the one that is accessed by going to Scanner menu at the top of Advanced GET. The built-in scanner is the one that is accessed by going through the menu items, File----->New----->Scan.
One of the biggest benefits of the web-based scanner is that it will directly export the scan results to the Dashboard. As you can see, we have the option in that scanner to Export To Dash.
The built-in scanner has the same functionality but is accessed in a different way. In the built-in scanner, there is a field for "List Name". Enter whatever name or list of characters you want in this field.
Now, once the scan is complete, open a new Dashboard and use the "Dashboard" pull-down menu at the top of Advanced GET. Choose the menu item, Dynamic Symbol List
Find the name of the list you created in the Scanner (in this case, the name of the list is Duane) and choose OK.
From there, the Dashboard will import all of the items from your Scan. It takes a few more steps, but a nice feature nonetheless for those who like to use the built-in scanner.
- Active Strategies
Because Dashboard understands all four strategies, it is important to know how to change from one strategy to another. By right-clicking on any of the dials in the Dashboard, we can change the active strategy to look at a set of symbols in a variety of ways. Again, if the chart or underlying strategy doesn't make sense, the changes you see in the Dashboard will be of little consequence.
- Final Thoughts
The Advanced GET Dashboard is an extremely powerful tool and designed to help you become more efficient with your trading. Think of this as tool an intelligent watchlist. When using Advanced GET, you can monitor up to 100 dials at a time (not per dashboard). Hopefully with some of the aspects we have covered here, it will be a tool that allows you to focus in and take advantage of trading opportunities that may have otherwise slipped off the radar.

Hi Duane,
Thanks for your blogpost. I always read these posts and most of the times they are very interesting. All of you: keep them posted!
I have sent the following request about the, indeed powerfull, dashboard to ideas@esignal.com. I wonder if it is programmable:
Can you program the dasboard this way with the FBS, with for instance additional colours:
Now the dashboard turns green or red whether yes or no there has been a false bar-situation on the previous swing. So it is always neccessary to look at the chart before things get clear.
If the dashboard could additional indicate the situations if there was a false bar on the previous swing that would be of a great help. The conditions for a stoch-FB-trade can be narrowed down that way. The only requirement is then to look at the retracement on the chart.
Hope you seriously consider this option.

Thanks for the blog post. I am new here so reading as much as I can re: the system.
One thing I would like to know is the following though. When you open the dashboard, there is a "Page 1" label at the bottom. Is it possible to add multiple pages? How many dials can I include per dashboard?

At this time, the Dashboard only works with a single page.
You can have up to 100 dials working inside of GET at any particular time. It can be isolated to one Dashboard window or you can spread them out and have multiple Dashboards working. If you are looking across multiple strategies, additional dashboards are the way to go. Hope this helps.
